Community Rallies to Help Teen Secure Life-Saving Service Dog

Community Rallies to Help Teen Secure Life-Saving Service Dog

by | Feb 28, 2025

Times of need remind us that we are all part of a bigger community, united by a desire to support one another to make a positive impact. When Tommy’s Pizza and Subs heard about Landon’s story (see below), we immediately thought of the difference we could help make in his life by getting his message out to a wider audience.

Landon Service Dog

Landon Needs Our Help

The family of 13-year-old Landon, referred to as Lando, is asking for community support. Landon has faced significant health challenges since June 2020, when he was diagnosed with Generalized Focal Epilepsy. Despite various treatments, his seizures have not been fully controlled, leading to a recent diagnosis of Refractory Epilepsy.

Landon, the oldest of six siblings, is known in his community for his dedication to baseball. He plays for the Idaho Rampage, coached by his father. Landon’s family has a history of helping others and now seeks assistance to secure a seizure-alert service dog for him.

A service dog could provide Landon with the necessary safety and independence. These trained animals can detect seizures before they happen. However, the cost of a service dog can be as high as $40,000.

Landon has undergone numerous medical tests, including EEGs, MRIs, and genetic tests, but the cause of his condition remains unknown. If his current medications are unsuccessful, he will be referred to a specialist in Seattle.

How We Can Help

The community, near and far, is being asked to help raise funds to provide Landon with a service dog. Donations of any amount are appreciated. For those unable to donate, sharing the link to Landon’s GoFundMe page can help: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Lets-Help-Lando

“We are grateful for the support and generosity we’ve received so far,” said Landon’s mother. “This service dog will give Landon a sense of security and peace of mind.”
