Spring also marks the return of passeggiata, the Italian tradition of taking a stroll before and after meals on warm spring evenings once the shorter, cooler days of winter have passed. Steeped in tradition, these leisurely walks usually involve wandering around the town square and its cafes and restaurants or passing by local shops for some window shopping.

Passeggiatas are a great way to emerge from winter’s shadow and stretch your legs to tune up for more active days ahead as spring eventually morphs into summer. These strolls are also thought to be good for digestion, one’s health, and certainly for one’s soul.
